Grand jeté

A large leap forward onto one foot. This is one of the most popular steps in ballet. Everyone likes to do it. It means a large throw. A jeté is said to be grand when the leg is thrown close to 90° or higher. Executed well, this step can bring the audience to their feet, especially if the dancer can hang in the air. Usually done after a connecting step like glissade. This step can be started with an eight year old in a non-structured way, doing run, run jump, instead of glissade. A fun step.
