Pas de bourrée 1

(pah-da-boo-ray)
Pronunciation

A basic step. One of the most important connecting steps in ballet, and probably can be done more ways than any other step. The easiest version starts in fifth, right foot front. Coupé the back foot, then alternating feet step demi-pointe, back, side, pointe close front. A version of this can be started in pre-ballet class. This step can be done dessous (under), dessus (over), devant, derriére, en avant, en arriére, en tournant, en dedans and en dehors, and on pointe or half pointe. In English that's under, over, front, back, to the front, to the back, with a turn inside and outside and on pointe or half pointe. By far, the most used version is just back side front or front side back. Remember there is no substitute for a good ballet teacher. Pas de bourreé simple back, side, front. (Dessous).
