Pronunciation
A barre step. A large Battement ... thrown ... starts like a Tendu but continues forcefully into the air, well over 90°. Then bring it downward with control, finishing like a Tendu. Usually the last step at the Barre. This step is the basis for many large jumps in the center, such as a Grand Jeté. Can be done front, side and back or using the En Cloche movement or the Fan movement to the side. Grand battement with fans en dehors and en dedans.
