Making a Dancer · Bar

Advanced

These are steps, poses, turns, positions, stretches, etc. that an advanced dancer should be working on. Remember they all do not have to be done perfectly to get in a company. They will continue to improve. Step after step, your coordination, timing and endurance will improve. By now you should have a nice stretched out arabesque, the nine body positions, 2 or 3 good outside piroutte, working on partner work, a good memory for steps and combinations and working on a nice stage presence. You should also be very familiar with all the categories before this. (Pre-ballet, Beginner, Intermediate I, Intermediate II). This is the stage that you begin to stand out...if you have really put the time and effort towards the basics. You are becoming aware of what looks good from the audience perspective. You realize the importance of making your movements large and stretched out. This is the stage when your should get a mental 'lift' or a 'high' when you are performing. This is the stage when you start to enjoy the payback from the hard work and effort that your have put into your art. It is starting to pay off now...because "Ballet is Fun".
